Blogger Darren Rowse recently posted an article on 10 Common Spelling Mistakes That Haunt Bloggers.

Guess what?

They haunt job seekers too.

And if you’re a blogger and misspell a word, you can apologize to the audience or sneak in the middle of the night and edit the post. You might receive some flack for awhile, but it’s not a big deal.

If you’re a job seeker and misspell a word, you’ve just lost your job.

I can’t stand misspellings and typos on a resume. If you have more than one or two, I will toss out your application. If you just have one or two, you’ll just get the evil-eye, go-to-the-bottom-of-the-pile look.

Increase your odds of getting an interview by eliminating spelling mistakes. Check out Darren’s article and then spend some time with the following resources. And if you still don’t know/understand, have a (knowledgeable) friend proofread your resume and application first!
